10 Things You Can Do To Save The Bees

There are 250 species of solitary bees in Sweden (same number in UK) and most of them are in grave danger because of the loss of their habitat (urbanisation, monocultures, etc) and the heavy use of insecticides (e.g. Neonicotinoids stop bees from grooming themselves hence the Varroa problem).
They are as important as the honeybee which is far more popular than the solitary ones because of the honey of course.

10 things you can do to save the Bees


1 Stop using insecticides (this is a BIG one)

2   Plant Bee-friendly plants, bushes and trees

3   Create natural habitat gardens

4   Find out more about bees (The Barefoot Beekeeper by Phil Chandler and Buzz About The Bees by Jorgen Tautz)

5   Support local NATURAL Beekeepers (beware of the commercial ones, more on natural beekeeping on biobees.com )

6   Make you own 'Wild bee' house

7   Become a beekeeper ( biobees.com )

8   Only buy Organic Food and Clothing (no pesticides remember)

9   Sign petitions banning pesticides

10 Encourage your local authority to do more to help bees
