Chop Wood Carry Water Plant Seeds is a blog about Self-Sufficient Homesteading. How can we live by creating a sustainable bio-diverse world, instead of by consuming and destroying the only one we have? What kind of teaching have you got if you exclude nature?

  2. Happy to see you here my friend :)
Yes indeed! We must be the change we want to see in the world! But first we must act locally!

Due to our own ignorant and greedy nature fueled with fear we fall pray to major pesticide companies like Bayer, Monsanto and Syngenta who own large ammount of seeds coated in bug killing pesticides!

This must stop! We have the power to stop filling their pockets with money. Healthy soil is generous if we only come to realise the importance of the Soil Food Web.

Covering the soil with compost, dry grass, grass clippings, woodchips and leaves will provide all the food healthy Soil Food Web needs to support billions of fungi, bacteria, nematodes, earthworms, algae, protozoa, mites, beetles and their larvae, and all other larger animals feeding on them ... All this creates a rich balance in the constant feeding cycle of the Soil Food Web.

Such rich soil needs no watering, needs no pesticide control, needs no tilling, it is constantly aerated by the myriads of critters in the soil. Fungi and bacteria protect and feed plants root system which in return release exudates for the fungi/bacteria/algae.

Such soil doesnt leach nutrients into the water systems. All the organisms act as nutrient holders until devoured by another organism. Slow and constant nutrient release.

Such soil doesnt suffer from errosion. It is kept by the roots and bacterial slime.

The organic cover keeps the soil moist at all times so water doesnt evaporate.

Tilling soil, rototilling and pesticide use kills all the Soil Food Web causing unbalanced conditions. The soil turns dead and inert and if planted with mono crops nature sends the pest to balance this but we apply more and more pesticide out of dispear and greed.

Right View is called for here. We must act because we are the ones who support this kind of devistating agriculture by buying food produced in this manner and we are the ones buying those pesticides.

We must be the change we want to see in the world. It starts right here right now... In our minds!
